Mental Health First Aid Online Course
This is an online program, delivered in two parts:
- A self-directed e-learning component
- Followed by 2 x 2.5-hour interactive Zoom online workshops
Why Mental Health First Aid?
Mental illness is common, and a lot of people don’t know what to say if someone is showing signs or symptoms of a mental health problem. What would you do if someone in your workplace displayed signs of a substance problem? How would you approach them? What would you say?
Would you know what to do or say if a friend was experiencing symptoms of psychosis?
By participating in the Mental Health First Aid course, you will learn how to assist someone experiencing a common mental illness. You will also learn how to help someone who might be experiencing a worsening of an existing mental health problem or a mental health crisis until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves.
What the course covers:
You will learn how to recognise signs and symptoms of common mental health problems, how to provide initial support, linking with professional help, and how to provide first aid in a crisis situation.
